• The Corban University men’s soccer team won an exciting semifinal match on Tuesday evening over Concordia, 2-0, and in doing so advanced to the CCC Tournament Championship match on Saturday, November 15, against Northwest University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Kirkland, Wash.
• The Warrior men’s basketball team hosts Multnomah University on Friday night at 7pm in a non-conference showdown.
• The Corban women’s basketball team travels to Montana for three games over the weekend.
• Senior cross country runner Emily Childers prepares for NAIA Nationals which are set to take place on Saturday, November 22.

A big round of applause for everyone that helped make Corban Experience a success last weekend! We had over 150 guests stay in dorms Sunday night, and Monday we welcomed their families. The sun was shining and the campus was glowing, not doubt God blessed their time here. I want to thank all the hosts, your flexibility and grace at the 11th hour to accommodate for unforeseen changes was awesome. It took many departments and entities for this event to come together, and it will be exciting to see what happens for the next Experience in the spring!

CLT Student Initiatives presents…Triple Ten Devos!

Who we are: We’re different than a typical campus Bible study. Triple Ten Devos consists of students gathering for both personal devotions, and a time of sharing God’s Word with each other.

What we do: Each Triple Ten gathering is split into three parts:
1. Ten minutes of personal Bible reading
2. Ten minutes of journaling/praying
3. Ten minutes of sharing what we read with each other
When: 8:00-8:30 PM, every Tuesday night.

Saturday, Men’s Soccer Game at Willamette

Corban University head men’s soccer coach Aaron Lewis announced this morning that Saturday’s Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) match vs. The Evergreen State College has been moved to be played at Willamette University due to field conditions at Warrior Field. In addition to the location change, the match will now start at 8 p.m. instead of the previously scheduled time of 1 p.m. due to field availability.

Prior to the start of the match on Saturday night, Corban’s nine seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony as they each will be playing in their final regular-season home match for the Warriors. The match will be live streamed through video and audio, and live stats will be available as well.

Study abroad used to be an optional experience for students. In today’s climate, however, many employers assume that all students are doing some kind of international study. The question employers ask isn’t, “did you study oversees?” It is now, “where did you do your study abroad?” International study experiences beef up your resume quite a bit.

Many students aren’t able to spend a whole semester oversees. Here’s the good news: Corban offers short international experiences like our Great Britain Academic Tour.

You can join Drs Baker, Kersey, and Tennant and explore historic spots in England and Scotland firsthand. Then when asked about your international study, you can confidently tell them about your academic experiences in London, Oxford, and Edinburgh.

Triple Ten Devos!

Who we are: We’re different than a typical campus Bible study. Triple Ten Devos consists of students gathering for both personal devotions, and a time of sharing God’s Word with each other.
What we do: Each Triple Ten gathering is split into three parts:
1. Ten minutes of personal Bible reading
2. Ten minutes of journaling/praying
3. Ten minutes of sharing what we read with each other
When: 8:00-8:30 PM, every Tuesday night.

CAPITAL PUNISHMENT – What should Christians do with a murderer?

Is capital punishment an appropriate Christian response to murder? Does the American justice system foster reconciliation? Come to the Psalm Center Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m. to hear Professor James D. Slack, Director of the Master of Public Administration Program at Regent University, discuss the crime and execution of Jack Harrison Trawick. Corban University head men’s basketball coach, Steve Masten, announced on Wednesday that the Warriors will be on the Pac-12 Network in a battle against NCAA Division 1 opponent, Oregon State University, on Nov. 18 in Corvallis, Ore., at 7 p.m. “I’m grateful for the chance to play Oregon State for the second year in a row,” commented Masten. “It was one of the highlights of last season, and my players are excited about playing a Pac-12 school at historic Gill Coliseum.” Last season, the Warriors gave the Beavers all they could handle, leading 25-24 with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. After trailing by single digits at halftime, Corban went on to lose the exhibition, 57-77.
The Warriors home-opener, in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center, will be against New Hope Christian College on Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Seven players return from last season, including its top-four scorers. Senior guard Jordan Carter, sophomore forward Cyrus Ward, sophomore guard Caleb Herzberg, and sophomore guard Toby Roth, all of whom averaged double figures.

Warrior Cross Country Meet

The Cross Country team has their first race today, September 19th, at Fernhill Park in Portland. This is our “CCC Preview Meet” so all the teams from our conference can preview the course that the Conference Championship will be held on. Racing starts at 5:00p.m.

Homecoming & Family Weekend is only two weeks away!!

It’s a big weekend on campus for you and your families & Alumni will be here, too. There’s plenty going on and here are options for you to be a part of:

• Friday October 3, (if you’re NOT in class) 1:30-2:30 LADIES TEA in the Psalm Center, yep, only females. This will include your mother, grandmother & alumnae. Special music, door prizes and Lee Ann Zanon, Adjunct Faculty, will share on “Smiling at the Future, Holding on to Hope”.
• 1:30-3p.m. Disc Golf Tourney for GUYS only on the new course. Play 9 holes of disc golf with your own disc. (Prizes!) Hosted by Campus Rec. This is for your dad, grandfather & alumni.
• Friday night 7:30-8:30 Best of Corban (no competition — just showing off talent). Join friends for a musical variety show of solos, duets, combos & some surprises. Kettle corn & candy!
• 9 p.m. Table Tennis Tourney with prizes. Hosted by Campus Rec.

• WITHDRAWING FROM A CLASS: You may withdraw from a course through Friday, November 7th. Stop by the Registrar’s Office and pick up a course change card. Once you get the necessary signatures, return it with your $10 fee per class dropped.

• FRESHMEN: Final high school transcripts need to be turned in to the Registrar’s Office. If we haven’t received your transcript, you have been notified by your Core Group advisor. Final transcripts must be received before the start of Spring semester registration. You can not  register for spring classes until your transcript has been received in our office.

• TRANSCRIPTS: Have you taken a course recently at another college or university? Make sure that you request an official transcript be sent to our Registrar’s Office.

• GRADUATING in 2014-15, but haven’t applied to graduate? It is not too late! Pick up a graduation application in the Registrar’s Office and submit your paperwork by: Monday, December 1st, 2014.

“PICKING UP THE PIECES” – NOW ONLINE

During the first chapel of September Dr. Matt Lucas presented a compelling introduction to Corban’s “Picking Up the Pieces” theme for this year. This past Monday Dr. Greg Trull launched “Picking Up the Pieces – Through the Book of Judges,” a 6-part Fall 2014 series by Corban’s School of Ministry faculty. Our First ASB chapel is coming!

This Wednesday, the 17th, come hear five members of nonprofit organizations including Young Life and Marion Polk Food Share tell us about their program and how you can volunteer with them! (REACH credits anyone??) Afterwards there will be a lunch to hear more from each panel member- free lunch for the first 20 commuters!

• Be sure to show up early to Friday’s Home-Opener for the Volleyball team vs. Warner Pacific! The First 150 fans in attendance will receive a free Corban Athletics white t-shirt! First serve is at 7 p.m., so get there early, and get rowdy! Corban Volleyball then takes on Concordia on Saturday evening at 5 p.m.

• Be sure to attend the first home soccer match of the year on Tuesday, September 16, as the Warrior men’s soccer team takes on conference rival Concordia at 4 p.m. at Warrior Field! First 150 fans to this match will also receive a free Corban Athletics white t-shirt!

The Mail Room contest winner is…JADE LOWERY!

If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to finalize your Financial Plan for this school year. Remember you have three options:
1. Pay in Full. if you choose this option, your Student Statement will provide you with the amount due for Fall semester, or visit https://sis.corban.edu to access your Student Tuition Account and make payments electronically.
2. Monthly Payment Plan. Application available at https://store.corban.edu/business-office/payment-plan-application.

Tuition accounts not on a Payment Plan, covered in loans or paid in full for the semester, incur a

Need some Reach questions answered?

Go to Converge, My Courses, Reach. You will find nearly all of your questions answered there. In the meantime, here are a few FAQs:

1. Can I still submit summer Reach work? Yes, go to Converge and read about how you do that. Summer work due by 9-26-2014.
2. Do I need to get “approval” before I register a project? No, just submit (upload) a Project Registration Form through Converge for your Fall 2014 – Spring 2015 Reach work. As long as you are volunteering (not getting paid) at a non-profit organization (includes churches), you’re good to go. If a project is submitted that doesn’t fit these parameters, you will be contacted by email.
3. How do I know how many Reach projects I have completed and how many I have left to do? View your “grade” on the Reach page of Converge. There are four projects for Reach. If you’ve completed one, the grade for that will read “complete.” If you’ve registered for one, but haven’t completed it yet, your grade will read “incomplete.” If you haven’t registered for one, your grade will be blank. If you suspect that your Reach “grade” record is not accurate, it might be because you have outstanding summer work to turn in (due by September 26th). If not, please email our office.

Professor Trull Speaks to NW Pastors & Wives!

Greg Trull wonderfully represented Corban University and School of Ministry at the annual BNN (Baptist Network Northwest) Pastors and Wives Conference at Cannon Beach this week. (Dr. Tim Anderson described it as “suffering for the Lord at the beach”) There was a great response and appreciation from those in attendance.

Triple Ten Devos!

Who we are: We’re different than a typical campus Bible study. Triple Ten Devos consists of students gathering for both personal devotions, and a time of sharing God’s Word with each other.

What we do: Each Triple Ten gathering is split into three parts:
1. Ten minutes of personal Bible reading
2. Ten minutes of journaling/praying
3. Ten minutes of sharing what we read with each other

When: 8:00-8:30 PM, every Tuesday night.

Where: The Library, South Solarium
