2. Ten minutes of journaling/praying
3. Ten minutes of sharing what we read with each other

Where: The Library, South Solarium

Brought to you by CLT, if you have question contact Spencer Raibley.

C.E. Jeffers Sports Center has a new Scan-In System

We are excited to announce that our Sports Center is now equipped with a student/staff ID CARD SCAN-IN SYSTEM.
Beginning today, all students, staff and faculty are required to scan-in when making use of the facility. Scanning in is required for the use of the Student Fitness Center, Campus Recreation events, sport clubs and open gym use (basketball and volleyball).
Students attending athletic practices, fitness classes or any other class for academic purposes, are not required to scan-in during these times.
Alumni and Guest are required to use the “Guest Check-in” option as prompted on the screen.
The scan in system will allow us to capture usage data allowing us to measure the success of our recreational programs. Your cooperation is extremely important.

Looking forward to seeing you in the Sports Center! Here’s the calendar of events and hours for the Sports Center. Please send all of your questions to Donny Zavala.

Corban Clips Summer Edition #2!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PROVOST

This year we are reviving a tradition at Corban University to start the school year: Convocation. During chapel on our first day of school, we will be gathering as an academic community to dedicate our heart and mind to God and to celebrate the privilege of learning at a Christ-centered institution. We have been working with ASB to develop a tradition that will serve as a meaningful way to start the academic year.
I look forward to seeing each of you back on campus as we fulfill our mission: to educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.
–Dr. Matt Lucas

NEW SIDEWALKS IN FRONT OF THE LIBRARY

The sidewalks and stairs are complete! Don’t they look great? We’re appreciating the lack of construction noise on campus now, too

SUMMER HAPPENINGS

While you’ve been gone, a new generation of students has been taking advantage of some fun opportunities on the Corban campus this summer.

155 Christian teens attended a week-long Worldview Academy camp that taught them how to share their faith and what it means to be a Christian in today’s secular society. During the week, students participated in lectures, small group discussions, street ministry in downtown Salem, and plenty of free-time Frisbee games.

Corban’s annual Destinations! Theater Camp trained aspiring young actors in the arts of performance and drama. They ended the camp with showcase performances of short plays in the Psalm Center.

Prospective students toured campus and met with Admissions Counselors as part of the Oregon Private College Week. The event gives students an opportunity to compare a variety of campuses as they prepare to make their college selection.

Warrior Summer Sports Camps taught young athletes about teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun while they built foundational skills in their sport. Camps were held for basketball and volleyball. Corban also hosted a Timbers Youth Soccer Camp, with professional soccer players sharing their skills with kids from ages 5-15.

“PICKING UP THE PIECES”

When we look around at the world we live in, the effects of the Fall (Genesis 3) are all too obvious: broken people, shattered families, and fragmented communities. How do you respond? Where do you even begin when the pain seems so overwhelming?
We are excited to announce this year’s theme! The entire Corban community will be focusing on “Picking Up the Pieces” and Psalm 147:3. We will explore together what it means to “pick up the pieces” of our lives in a sin-shattered world and to seek the honesty, humility, and grace to engage the world and embrace the mercy and love of our great God. Get ready for a great year of spiritual growth and encouragement as we focus on this perspective of grace!

NEW SIDEWALKS IN FRONT OF THE LIBRARY

The sidewalks are getting a makeover! Work is underway with demolition of the current sidewalks and lower staircase in front of the library. By the time school starts, the old cracked and chipped sidewalks will be smooth and new.

CORBAN COMMUNITY GARDEN

The Corban Community Garden is quickly taking shape! Over the course of the summer, students have been working to cultivate the land. Currently, there are a variety of vegetables and herbs planted in rows and in raised beds. Through a series of “Garden Parties,” students have been learning about proper organic gardening methods and have had a hand in designing the layout of the garden. Half of the produce generated will be donated to Marion Polk Food Share and other local food banks.
This is a great opportunity for students to get involved! If you’re interested in volunteering or have questions, please contact Ben Pearson .

Dr. Foley and his family will be moving to Oregon from Gladstone, Missouri, where he has directed choirs and served as Music Department Chair.
In his spare time, Dr. Foley is a Scout leader and counselor for summer camp. He also enjoys fly fishing and hunting with both gun and bow.
