What’s Happening on Campus this Week?

CALLING ALL FANATICS!

  •  This weekend our men and women’s basketball teams host Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech. These schools have already pre-ordered many tickets for their fans and staff, and we cannot let them take over our gym! Friday and Saturday will be a “GOLD OUT!” Pass the word, we want all Corban fanatics wearing gold and filling our gym. This is our house, let’s keep it that way! Both our teams are  looking to remain in the playoff picture against these opponents . OIT’s faithful Owl fans are highly motivated to cheer their head coach, Danny Miles, as he reaches for career win #1,000. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to “Pack the Barracks” and help make the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center a home court advantage for the Warriors.

  • OREGON SPORTS AWARDS: Do not forget to cast your vote for four-time NAIA All-American, three-time CCC Player of the Year, and the NAIA’s all-time career home run queen Stephanie Nippert (Hull) as this year’s Ad Rutschman Small College Female Athlete of the Year! You can vote for free on-line at http://www.oregonlive.com/oregonsportsawards/vote.html. The award will be handed out on Sunday, February 9th, at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton in the state-of-the-art Stanford Theatre at the Tiger Woods Center. Be sure to cast your vote soon so that Stephanie can bring the trophy back to Salem.
  • HOME OPENER: Corban’s baseball team officially opens its 2014 schedule on Saturday, February 1st, with an afternoon double header against NCAA Division III member Whitman beginning at noon on the varsity field at Wilsonville High School. Admission is free and directions from Corban University can be found here.
  • Be sure to follow all the action this semester on-line at www.GoWarriorsGo.com, as fans can find the latest news about their favorite Warrior team or athlete.

“Loveology”
The Never-Ending Story of Male and Female

Wed., Feb. 19, 9 – 11 p.m. Emitte Center

In the beginning God created man and woman. Ever since, we humans have been asking questions. “Loveology” is an exploration of what the Bible has to say about the never-ending story of male and female. This Corban community-only event, especially for singles, will feature in-depth discussion about singleness and marriage from “Loveology” author John Mark Comer. Comer serves as lead pastor at Bridgetown: A Jesus Church, which is part of a family of churches formally known as Solid Rock in Portland, OR. Bridgetown is unique in that about half of the 6,000-member church is made up of educated, unmarried college students and twenty-somethings. After he speaks, Comer will host a lively, anything goes Q&A session. Come and discover the theology of love, ask questions about sex and romance, and maybe even learn something new about God’s purpose for you.

Events for the Corban Community!

  • 5 on 5 Basketball: Registrations close this Friday the 17th 5pm.
  • Cosmic Tubing: Registrations continue to be open until  Wednesday the 22nd  .

LAST TWO CHANCES TO ATTEND THE ODYSSEY

In the Psalm Center tonight and tomorrow night at  7:30p.m.

Buy your tickets in the bookstore or at the door:
$10 for students and school employees /  $12 for adults

Come Witness one of the most poignant homecomings in four thousand years. Odysseus, a mortal, journeys ten years to find the home and family he left to fight in the Trojan War. Mythical monsters challenge him. Jealous sorceresses fight for him. The gods themselves conspire to keep his ship from home, but for Odysseus no air is sweeter than the winds of Ithaca, no woman more beloved than his faithful Penelope, and no face more precious than that of his son who has grown up in his father’s absence.
Come enjoy the acting, the art, the music, the experience.  You won’t regret it.
