NAME THE WARRIOR MASCOT CONTEST:

Oregon State has Benny the Beaver, Oregon has Puddles, what is the name of the Warrior mascot? No idea. Here is your chance to “Name the Warrior Mascot” by sending your entry to Greg Eide, Director of Athletics, via email (geide@corban.edu) by Friday, September 20th, for a chance to win a Nike shopping spree. The winner will be selected by the Department of Athletics and then that name will be submitted to the President’s Cabinet for approval. If the name is approved then the winner will received a $100 credit that can be used to purchase Nike gear through the Athletics Department. Be creative and win a prize!

Two Volleyball Games Within Driving Distance This Weekend!

Tonight at Concordia University in Portland, the Corban Warriors take on Concordia. The game is at 7:00 p.m. GO WARRIORS!

Tomorrow night at Warner Pacific, the Warriors will play at 7:00 p.m. as well! Be there…and be LOUD!!!

Baseball Alumni Game

Corban University Baseball announces the date for the 2013 Alumni Game, scheduled for Saturday, September 21st. The day will consist of a homerun derby starting at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 1:00 p.m. game time. Alumni will compete against the current baseball athletes. Please RSVP and direct questions to Jacob Garsez at jgarsez@corban.edu.

Flag Football & Powder Puff referees needed!

Poetry Workshop September 9th

Oregon Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen will lead a poetry workshop, free and open to the public, from 3 to 5 pm on Monday, September 9th, at Corban University, Academic Center Room 4424.

Announcements you NEED to know!

Writing Lab offered 3 nights a week!

Come to the Writing Lab (AC 3301) for assistance with grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and editing. Half-hour sessions are available on either Tuesday (6-8pm), Wednesday (4-6pm) or Thursday (6-8pm). Sign up beforehand by stopping by the room or emailing Daren Milionis at dmilionis@corban.edu.

Friday, today, will be the last day you will be able to charge your student account for books.

Adding & Dropping a Class:

Today, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH IS THE LAST DAY TO ADD A CLASS.  It is also the last day to drop a class without a fee. Please see your advisor to make these changes.  If you haven’t checked your class schedule since the start of school, please do so in SIS.  Make sure the classes you have been attending are the ones on your schedule.  After 9/6 you will be able to drop classes through the Registrar’s Office, but there will be a $10 fee per class.

INAUGURATION:

Saturday, October 5th we will be celebrating the inauguration of our new President Sheldon C. Nord.  We are looking for student volunteers to serve as ushers/greeters at the ceremony.

You would need to be available from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th. If you are interested in serving at this event please contact Sandy Clouser at sclouser@corban.edu.

Need assistance on the weekend? Call (503) 877-4206 and reach a Residence Life staff member between the hours of 5pm (Friday) and 8am (Monday). We’re happy to help you get back in your room, provide some band aids and minor first aid, or sit down and listen if you are having a difficult time.

They’re Still Coming!

We are still awaiting the arrival of five new freshman from Papua, Indonesia! They may be arriving on campus as late as the end of next week. Please give these students a warm Corban welcome as you see them arrive and start to make their way around.

Israel Study Tour!

Join Tim Anderson and Greg Trull for an incredible tour of the Holy Land! You can walk the paths of Moses, David and Jesus. See where God worked His greatest miracles. Tour dates are May 5-16, 2014. Campus Safety

Good news! There is only one campus safety number to remember. The number on the back of your student ID card (503.510.6430) is our 24/7 contact number. From a campus phone it’s still 7777. Program it into your mobile phone today!

Doctor on Campus!

Matt Summers from Stayton Family Practice will be on campus again this year to hold clinic in the Health Office (Schimmel room 217) every other Thursday from 8:00 am – noon beginning September 5th. Contact Janie Vohland, Director of Health Services to make an appointment. Your insurance will be billed and you will be responsible for any co-payment.

Important Info From The Registrar

ADDING OR DROPPING A CLASS?
Friday, September 6th
is the last day to add a class to your fall schedule and the last day to drop a class without a fee.  If you need to change your schedule please see your advisor through Friday, September 6th.  After September 7th you will be allowed to withdraw from a course in the Registrar’s Office, but there will be a $10 drop fee per class.

GRADUATING THIS YEAR?
If you did not apply to graduate last April, it is not too late.  Pick up a graduation application in the Registrar’s Office. Please be aware that the application fee has doubled.

Corban Counseling Center moved to Balyo!

The new office is located in the previous RD apartment of Balyo. There is an outside entrance on the south side of the building. Our new Director of Counseling, Pam Standridge, would like you to know the process for accessing the center so there’s no confusion.

There are 4 ways:

Corban Block Party!

The school year has officially begun! Let’s start off the year right by celebrating together! Come to our very own Corban Block Party this Friday night (tonight!) in the Amphitheater!

The party will be from 9-11pm (after the volleyball game!)
Otter Pops, Snacks, Dancing, Football, Volleyball…&…Sidewalk Chalk Competition!
And our very own DJ, the one, the only….Ben Maison!!
Come out with the Corban community to kick off the new school year!

Warrior Volleyball & Soccer games

HOME OPENER FOR VOLLEYBALL:
Corban will open its 2013 home schedule tonight when the Warriors host Mills College inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free for everyone that walks through the door so come and cheer on the Warriors as they look to bring home a victory. (Just a reminder: all fans must to enter the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center through the back entrance for all volleyball matches until further notice. Due to the construction around the center, the back entrance is the only one accessible, per safety regulations.)
SOCCER DOUBLE HEADER ON SATURDAY:
Both of Corban’s soccer teams will take on NCAA Division II member Saint Martin’s tomorrow on Warrior Field. The women’s game will kick off at 1:30 p.m., while the men will take the field at 4:00 p.m. Each team is looking to remain unbeaten so far this season, as the Warriors make a push towards a Cascade Collegiate Conference title in 2013.
LABOR DAY FESTIVITIES:
Corban’s women’s soccer team will not be taking Monday off, as the Warriors host the Bruins of George Fox in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Warrior Field. Be sure to bring a lawn chair and a friend to help cheer the Warriors to victory.
