Want to Win $100 in Nike Gear? Who Doesn’t?

NAME THE WARRIOR MASCOT CONTEST:

Oregon State has Benny the Beaver, Oregon has Puddles, what is the name of the Warrior mascot? No idea. Here is your chance to “Name the Warrior Mascot” by sending your entry to Greg Eide, Director of Athletics, via email (geide@corban.edu) by Friday, September 20th, for a chance to win a Nike shopping spree. The winner will be selected by the Department of Athletics and then that name will be submitted to the President’s Cabinet for approval. If the name is approved then the winner will received a $100 credit that can be used to purchase Nike gear through the Athletics Department. Be creative and win a prize!

Have you ever gone to a sporting event on a college campus and known where the student section was located just by a name or the shirts that they wore in a certain section? Gonzaga has “The Dawg Pound,” Oregon has “The Pit,” Duke has the “Cameroon Crazies,” Montana State Billings has “The Hive.” Here is your chance to “Name the Student Section” inside the C.E. Two Volleyball Games Within Driving Distance This Weekend!

Tonight at Concordia University in Portland, the Corban Warriors take on Concordia. The game is at 7:00 p.m. GO WARRIORS!

Tomorrow night at Warner Pacific, the Warriors will play at 7:00 p.m. as well! Be there…and be LOUD!!!

Baseball Alumni Game

Corban University Baseball announces the date for the 2013 Alumni Game, scheduled for Saturday, September 21st. The day will consist of a homerun derby starting at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 1:00 p.m. game time. Alumni will compete against the current baseball athletes. Please RSVP and direct questions to Jacob Garsez at jgarsez@corban.edu.

Flag Football & Powder Puff referees needed!

Wear your RED WHITE AND BLUE to supper and root for US (vs. Mexico) in the qualifying soccer game for the World Cup at 5 PM on September 10th.

Poetry Workshop September 9th

Oregon Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen will lead a poetry workshop, free and open to the public, from 3 to 5 pm on Monday, September 9th, at Corban University, Academic Center Room 4424.

Announcements you NEED to know!

Writing Lab offered 3 nights a week!

Come to the Writing Lab (AC 3301) for assistance with grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and editing. Half-hour sessions are available on either Tuesday (6-8pm), Wednesday (4-6pm) or Thursday (6-8pm). Sign up beforehand by stopping by the room or emailing Daren Milionis at dmilionis@corban.edu.

Friday, today, will be the last day you will be able to charge your student account for books.

Adding & Dropping a Class:

Today, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH IS THE LAST DAY TO ADD A CLASS.  It is also the last day to drop a class without a fee. Please see your advisor to make these changes.  If you haven’t checked your class schedule since the start of school, please do so in SIS.  Make sure the classes you have been attending are the ones on your schedule.  After 9/6 you will be able to drop classes through the Registrar’s Office, but there will be a $10 fee per class.

INAUGURATION:

Saturday, October 5th we will be celebrating the inauguration of our new President Sheldon C. Nord.  We are looking for student volunteers to serve as ushers/greeters at the ceremony.

You would need to be available from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th. If you are interested in serving at this event please contact Sandy Clouser at sclouser@corban.edu.

Need assistance on the weekend? Call (503) 877-4206 and reach a Residence Life staff member between the hours of 5pm (Friday) and 8am (Monday). We’re happy to help you get back in your room, provide some band aids and minor first aid, or sit down and listen if you are having a difficult time.
