ATHLETICS:

1. Congrats to Kade Crossland on being named the CCC Men’s Golfer of the Year! Warriors men took second overall as a team, while the Corban women finished in fourth place at the CCC Championships.
2. BSB hosts Simpson University this weekend in its final home series of the year! Senior Day on Saturday is set for an 11am start.
3. Track & Field Athletes compete at the CCC Multi-Event Championships on Thursday and Friday, while the remainder of the team will compete at the Mt. Hood Invite on Friday!

PLAYWRIGHTS’ SHOWCASE 2015

The Play Writing class will be having their Playwrights’ Showcase 2015 this Friday only: April 24th from 7-9 pm. Come be a part of our playwrights’ public table reading of select scenes from their scripts and get a chance to give your input to the writers. It’s also an opportunity to congratulate some of our graduating senior class.

BAND AND ORCHESTRA CONCERT

Featuring the Corban University Chamber Orchestra and Concert Band
Psalm Performing Arts Center, Corban University
April 24th, 2015, 7:30pm
Doors open at 7pm
Come support your fellow students at this last concert of the semester! The Chamber Orchestra will perform pieces from musical masterworks from centuries past, while the Concert Band will perform contemporary dances and song. The program will include composers from Europe, South and Central America, and the United States.

Graduation rehearsal will be Saturday, May 2nd at 12:15 p.m. in the Salem Armory Auditorium. All students who are participating in graduation need to be in their cap and gown and in their assigned seat in the auditorium at that time.
An e-mail will be sent one week prior to the event with your assigned seat/walking order.
Rehearsal will last approximately 1/2 hour. *Food is not available to purchase onsite, so please plan accordingly.
This is a ticketed event and doors will open for guests at 1:00 p.m. and the Graduation ceremony will begin at 2:00 and last approximately 2 hours.

THere will be instruction and short lessons in Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep and Lindy during this time for anyone who is interested. Everyone is invited students, faculty, staff are all welcome to come have fun and get a good workout in in the process!

CORBAN ATHLETICS

Men’s Golf: Kade Crossland captured the individual title for the Warrior men at the NCU Invite, leading the team to a third-place finish.

Women’s Golf: Brooke Spencer won the individual title for the Warrior women at the NCU Invite, leading the team to a third-place finish.

GOLF: The Corban University golf teams travel north to the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course next Monday and Tuesday for the CCC Championships, looking to earn a berth to the NAIA Championships.

Softball: Corban hosts Northwest University on Friday at 2pm and then Concordia University on Saturday at 11 a.m. Saturday is also Senior Day, so be sure to come out to Warrior Field and support the Warriors!

Baseball: The Warriors head north to Canada this weekend to take on the University of British Columbia in a four-game series.

Track and Field: The Corban track and field teams compete at the Oregon Relay Meet on Saturday at Hayward Field as well as at the Lewis & Clark Invite on Saturday.

Many of you know that Cathy will be retiring at the end of April after 12 years of service in Student Life.  Unarguably the friendliest, most engaging and winsome member of the Student Life team, Cathy’s presence will be missed by all.  Please join the Corban community in recognizing Cathy for her service by joining us in the second floor of the student center (coffee shop) on Tuesday, April 14th, from 2-3pm for remarks (at 2:05) and light refreshments.

FINAL EXAM ARRANGEMENTS

Finals week is coming up April 27-30. Students are required to take their finals at the scheduled times. In no case should a student plan to leave campus prior to the end of his/her last examination. Finals may only be rescheduled for the following reasons: 1) Two exams are scheduled during same hour, 2) Four or more exams are scheduled on same day, 3) A student has a documented disability, or 4) A student has a documented emergency – student illness, or death in the family.

Any exams that need to be rescheduled for any reason must be approved by the registrar through a rescheduling request form. There is a $25 fee for each rescheduled exam. Certain procedures must be followed in order to re-schedule. Procedures are found inside.corban.edu, on the registrar’s page, under forms-and-policies. Arrangements should be made at least one week prior to finals week to reschedule any finals. The Final Exam Schedule is found online on the Registrar’s page.

THUMBPRINTS: A CORBAN ARTS SHOWCASE

Come and join the celebration of Corban artists, including poets, singers, actors, and writers. Doors open at 6:00. Enjoy refreshments and an art tutorial given by Museum without Walls leadership.

The program starts at 6:45 with presentations from Stinky Bagels poetry, playwriting class, and Hilltop Harmony. We’ll top off the whole evening with a swing dancing lesson!

Come support your fellow students at this celebration of the jazz suite! This concert will feature a wide variety of pieces by composers such as Charlie Parker, Bob Curnow, Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, and many more. The concert will also feature guest artist and Corban flute instructor Dr. Emily Stanek, performing Claude Bolling’s “Suite for Jazz Flute.”

Air Force Woodwind Concert

Featuring the Air Force woodwind quintet, the Golden West Winds

This celebrated woodwind quintet performs all styles of music, including marches, jazz, and classical. This concert will also include patriotic favorites and a piece composed by our very own John T. Bartsch, Jr.

Choirs Concert: Music Around The World
Featuring the Corban University Concert and Chamber Choirs

This concert brings together sacred and secular music from around the globe. Works will include pieces from Russia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and many others, from composers such as Basler, Rachmaninoff, Handel, and more!

CORBAN SCIENCE SYMPOSIUM

The Health Science department is pleased to announce the third annual Corban Science Symposium wiLL be held this Thursday, April 9th in the Psalm Center, from 9-3 PM. Come support our students by hearing about their research in exercise science, health science and science education. Students will be presenting on a variety of topics in poster and oral formats. Student oral presentations are scheduled for 9, 11 and 1 PM and poster presentations will be held at 10 and 12. The symposium is open to all those interested and people are welcome to stop by for any portion of the meeting.

JAZZ NIGHT: HOW SUITE THE SOUND

Featuring the Corban University Jazz Band
Psalm Performing Arts Center, Corban University

This Jazz Night will celebrate the tradition of the jazz suite featuring a wide variety of pieces by notable composers including Charlie Parker, Bob Curnow, Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, and many more. The concert will feature guest artist Dr. Emily Stanek performing Claude Bolling’s “Suite for Jazz Flute.”

The LAST Open Mic Night of the YEAR is Tuesday, April 14th.

The FUN starts at 9:00pm and ends at 10:30pm.

Come to the coffee shop, drink a mocha, “do homework,” chat with friends, and listen to some GREAT music!

REACH

If you registered for a Reach project this academic year, don’t forget to finish it up by:
• Serving a full 40 hours
• uploading your one-page reflection paper through the appropriate link on the Reach page of Converge
• emailing your supervisor the Supervisor Evaluation form (available on the Reach page of Converge) so that s/he can email it back to reach@corban.edu

A Reach project is due one year from the date you began serving. However, if you are a graduating senior, all of your Reach work will be due the first Friday in April of the year you graduate (or the first Friday in December for December grads.

IT’S TIME TO REGISTER FOR FALL SEMESTER 2015 CLASSES: Please take time to set up an appointment with your advisor prior to registration. Then you can go over the courses you are to register for and receive a registration code.
Registration dates are as follows:
 Juniors to be seniors & seniors: Monday, March 30, 2015
 Sophomores to be juniors: Monday, April 6th
 Freshman to be sophomores: Monday, April 13th
*You must have already completed the following number of credit hours to be considered a: Senior: 93+, Junior: 62- 92, Sophomore: 31 – 61, Freshman: 0 – 30.

GRADUATION APPLICATIONS 2016: If you are graduating in December 2015 or May 2016, stop by the Registrar’s Office to pick up your application. Applications and application fee are due back in the Registrar’s Office by Friday, April 17th.
