Corban Clips Special Summer Edition

We hope you’re all having a great summer and finding some time for relaxation, recreation, and rejuvenation! We miss you on campus, but some exciting things are happening while you’re gone!

(Read all the way to the bottom of this posting to know what you need to do to be ready for Returner’s Registration on August 26th!)

“PICKING UP THE PIECES”

When we look around at the world we live in, the effects of the Fall (Genesis 3) are all too obvious: broken people, shattered families, and fragmented communities. How do you respond? Where do you even begin when the pain seems so overwhelming?
We are excited to announce this year’s theme! The entire Corban community will be focusing on “Picking Up the Pieces” and Psalm 147:3. We will explore together what it means to “pick up the pieces” of our lives in a sin-shattered world and to seek the honesty, humility, and grace to engage the world and embrace the mercy and love of our great God. Get ready for a great year of spiritual growth and encouragement as we focus on this perspective of grace!

NEW SIDEWALKS IN FRONT OF THE LIBRARY

The sidewalks are getting a makeover! Work is underway with demolition of the current sidewalks and lower staircase in front of the library. By the time school starts, the old cracked and chipped sidewalks will be smooth and new.

CORBAN COMMUNITY GARDEN

The Corban Community Garden is quickly taking shape! Over the course of the summer, students have been working to cultivate the land. Currently, there are a variety of vegetables and herbs planted in rows and in raised beds. Through a series of “Garden Parties,” students have been learning about proper organic gardening methods and have had a hand in designing the layout of the garden. Half of the produce generated will be donated to Marion Polk Food Share and other local food banks.
This is a great opportunity for students to get involved! If you’re interested in volunteering or have questions, please contact Ben Pearson .

NEW MUSIC FACULTY

We are excited to announce that Dr. Eric Foley has accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Choral Music in the Corban University School of Arts & Sciences! Dr. Foley and his family will be moving to Oregon from Gladstone, Missouri, where he has directed choirs and served as Music Department Chair.
In his spare time, Dr. Foley is a Scout leader and counselor for summer camp. He also enjoys fly fishing and hunting with both gun and bow.
