Evan Brammer was in Indonesia with stops in Balikpapan, Semarang, and Surabaya for international recruiting for the Corban Language Institute. Evan returned from a successful testing and recruiting visit to Indonesia with stops also in Jakarta and Salatiga. He spoke with over 1,000 students in seven schools. As well, he met, tested and interviewed the next group of Papuan students who will be arriving to Corban in January.
Meanwhile, Janine Allen headed for Jakarta to work with International Teachers College and Teachers College at Universitas Pelita Harapan. Janine also presented the seminar Globalization: Living at the Crossroads of Faith and the Biblical Story through translation in Toraja, Indonesia. Community members, teachers, parents and members of parliament attended the seminar. Her trip to Toraja, Sulawesi was a day of cultural learning with a great amount of reflection on living in the crossroads of culture and the biblical story.
The Center for Global Engagement eagerly awaited the arrival ofAndrew Pace and Jon Stone on November 12th and 13th from the Baptist Seminary of Peru. In conversation with Corban faculty and staff, the delegation discussed partnership possibilities with Corban Bible faculty and connected with Corban Education majors interested in teaching abroad. In addition, Pace hosted an informational meeting to present a teaching opportunity for Corban education majors at La Molina Christian Schools in Peru. We are thankful to the Corban community for welcoming these men to campus.
Likewise, plans continue to unfold for a study abroad program for Corban pre-counseling psychology majors at Laidlaw College in Auckland, New Zealand.
Sarah Ernst recently returned from an adventure-filled trip to Indonesia. She had the opportunity to connect with over 1,000 students through school presentations, college fairs, and coffee meetings with students and parents. She even served as a judge for high school business presentations. We thank the Lord for her willingness to serve God globally.
In addition, Bryce Bernard taught a Professional Development Workshop on Biblical Worldview in Business and a Student Workshop on worldview with highlights on Volkswagen at Medan and Surabaya.
