Wild Angels<\/b><\/p>\n
Sometimes fly to Eden,
\nrest their wings on the ground,
\nlay their faces on the soil,
\nrich and sweet as
\nmilky baby\u2019s breath.<\/p>\n
They throw handfuls of gold rings,
\ninto rivers, watch the light
\nflicker and shine, and yell
\nkindness, kindness, kindness.<\/p>\n
In empty sanctuaries,
\nthey help the tall shepherd,
\nblue Mary, and old angels
\ndown out of the stained glass.
\nThey massage their backs,
\nwarm cold feet with their big hands.
\nWhen church begins,
\nthey hide in organ pipes,
\nsing the alto part too loud,
\npeek out at the congregation,
\nwink at children.<\/p>\n
They teach old preachers
\nhow to juggle
\nbetween sermons \u2013
\nfilling the air with
\nbananas and zucchinis
\nand red chili peppers.<\/p>\n
Wild angels believe
\nevery lit candle
\nis a prayer \u2013 on fire and
\nrising, rising, rising.<\/p>\n
They grow bored
\nplaying the four-stringed lute \u2013
\none string for earth,
\ntwo for fire, three for water,
\nfour for wind.<\/p>\n

\nlibraries filled with dictionaries.<\/p>\n
