\"corban-main-2\"<\/a>I’m delighted that Corban’s work around the globe continues to grow.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This past week Corban’s Provost, Dr. Matt Lucas, announced that my title has changed to Associate Provost of Global Engagement. We also have two new positions coinciding with the launch of our Center for Global Engagement<\/strong> (CGE). First, we have created a faculty position\u00a0that will be half-time Hoff School of Business and half-time CGE. This will start July 1, 2016.\u00a0Bryce Bernard\u00a0will be taking this position and we will be hiring a replacement for Bryce. Second, Evan Brammer, CUEST coordinator, will be assigned to the CGE and his responsibilities moved to a director level.<\/p>\n

We have received initial word from Papua<\/strong> that they will be sending between 25 and 30 new CUEST students. I went to Papua recently to work out the details. Evan is working on a business model so students can come in the summer. We are exploring sending him to India, China<\/strong> and Brazil<\/strong> (BRIC countries minus Russia) to attract new students. The goal would be to bring students in and then roll them into the fall cohort in 2016, 2017 and beyond.<\/p>\n

Our International Teachers College<\/strong> at UPH continues to grow (with nearly 100 students) and our Teachers College<\/strong> enrollment is at an all-time high (with nearly 1,000 students).\u00a0Sarah Ernst\u00a0is our new International Recruitment Counselor. She will be traveling to Indonesia, China, Korea<\/strong> and other places this coming year to recruit students. We have a goal of 10 international students who are not Papuan and are a direct result of Sarah\u2019s recruitment. That goal will grow, but we need to have measured expectations. What this also does is allow us to have a counselor who focuses only on transfer students.<\/p>\n

So much has happened so quickly. A year ago this time, most of the items reported above were either not on our radar or were only dreams. Pray that all will continue toward a successful expansion of our mission “To educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ” (Matthew 28:19-20).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
